Withington House - Planning Consent for Barn Conversion
Withington House is a large Cotswold stone property of traditional vernacular design that sits in a large plot on the banks of the River Coln. Although not listed, the house has been given the status of a ‘non-designated heritage asset’, it sits within the village conservation area and the Cotswold AONB. Permission was sought to convert the attached barn building for use as a home working space, and for entertaining in the summer months. Large glazed doors, overlooking the valley were introduced, as were conservation skylights, and alterations to the existing entrance approach to make this more defined. Through ongoing liaison with the council case officer and conservation officer, permission was granted for the scheme which was initially recommended for refusal.
